Riverside Skating Center gives Greater Lafayette, IN the perfect inner city, winter outdoor setting, and we’re here for it! Picture this: come down to Tapawingo Park on the levy, take a winter walk beside the Wabash River and over the Pedestrian Bridge, and enjoy a sweet evening skating at the Riverside Skating Center. “Our seasonal ice skating rink, located outdoors at Tapawingo Park, offers open skating from late November through early March. There is a food/drink vending area, rental lockers, and public restrooms.
The rink is a 120×70 foot oval.  

Riverside Skating Center Hours, Pricing and Location

Admission:

  • $5 per person per session
  • $3 skate rental
  • $7 (plus tax) per pair for skate sharpening (Professional Blademaster Sharpening Machine)
  • Wednesday night is Family Night! Children 16 and under receive free skate rental with a paid adult admission

  • December 22nd & 23rd: 1:00 – 3:00 PM, 4:00 – 6:00 PM, 7:00 – 9:00 PM
  • December 24th: 1:00 – 3:00 PM, 4:00 – 6:00 PM
  • December 25th: Closed
  • December 26th – 30th: 1:00 – 3:00 PM, 4:00 – 6:00 PM, 7:00 – 9:00 PM
  • December 31st: 1:00 – 3:00 PM, 4:00 – 6:00 PM
  • January 1st: 1:00 – 3:00 PM, 4:00 – 6:00 PM, 7:00 – 10:00 PM
  • January 2nd – 4th: 1:00 – 3:00 PM, 4:00 – 6:00 PM, 7:00 – 9:00 PM
  • January 17th: 1:00 – 3:00 PM, 4:00 – 6:00 PM, 7:00 – 9:00 PM

Normal Operating Hours (Weather permitting):    

  • Monday:  closed – available for private rentals
  • Tuesday:  6-9 pm 
  • Wednesday:  6-9 pm 
  • Thursday:  6-9 pm 
  • Friday:  4-6 pm & 7-10 pm
  • Saturday:  1-3 pm, 4-6 pm & 7-10 pm
  • Sunday:  1-3 pm, 4-6 pm & 7-9 pm

Riverside Skating Center closes 15 minutes after each skating session

Rental rates for the ice-skating rink are $210 (plus tax) per two-hour session for weekday use and $235 (plus tax) per two-hour session on the weekend; the price does not include the cost of skate rental. The facility is available for rent when it is not open to the public. Call the West Lafayette Parks and Recreation office, (765) 775-5110, to reserve your rink time. Private and Semi-Private Lessons:  Why not sign up for private instruction? Private lessons are great for first-time skaters as well as those who are looking to improve specific skills. Lessons are on a first-come, first-served basis. Call or stop by the rink to fill out a request form. 

  • Private: $20 per 30 minutes.
  • Semi-private: $14 per person per 30 minutes.
