9 Things to Know About the Tippecanoe Public Library

The Tippecanoe County Public Library houses some amazing resources for us here in the Greater Lafayette, IN community. No matter your age or season in life, the Tippecanoe County Public Library can serve you.   1. Mission statement: “To be our community’s leader in encouraging and promoting reading, literacy, and lifelong learning.” We think that’s super cool!
  2. The Tippecanoe County Public Library offers a “product list” on their Facebook. Here’s a list of some things you can expect to see! “Our collection includes books, audio books, CDs, DVDs, downloadables, CD-ROMs, databases, wifi internet access, study rooms, Spanish-language materials, and meeting room spaces.”
  3. The Tippecanoe County Public Library offers fun program each month. For example, for the month of February 2019, they’re hosting the “Family Read Along” promoting families reading together! Families that report how many hours they read together at home in the month of February receive prizes for their accomplishments. March 2019 has a book sale. Keep your eyes on their website or look for posters inside the branches for information on monthly programs!
  4. There are currently three locations to the Tippecanoe County Public Library System. The oldest (Downtown) was established in 1882 and the newest (Wyandotte) as built in 2016.
  5. Coming soon! Tippecanoe County Public Library SOUTH BRANCH. Plans are in the works.
  6. The Mobile Library surfs Lafayette, IN area neighborhoods throughout the year. It’s a large trailer filled with books from the library, giving everyone a chance to utilize the learn. It operates on 3 schedules. Click here to view those and to know where you might see the mobile library!
  7. Each library branch has a kid’s section with access to educational tablets and touch screen T.V.s, hands on learning models, and, of course, books! Visit for a day with your family to see the fun!
  8. Tech classes are available for adults. In this constantly changing tech world, we need all the help we can get!
